If two FBI whistleblowers who have come forward are telling the truth, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland may have committed at least two crimes, said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. Cruz called for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Garland.
“(Attorney General) Merrick Garland may have lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee and obstructed justice in the Hunter Biden investigation,” Cruz said. “There needs to be a special prosecutor appointed to find out if Attorney General Garland has committed multiple crimes.”

The Texas senator told Fox News, “I questioned Merrick Garland before the Senate Judiciary Committee and he told the Judiciary Committee under oath that the US Attorney investigating Hunter Biden had full authority to investigate and that he did not There was no political interference. His statement is directly contrary to what whistleblowers have said.
“The Chamber must hold a hearing. They have to have both informers under oath. They need to have David Weiss, the US Attorney, under oath. They need to have Merrick Garland, the attorney general, under oath. Someone is lying.
“What if Merrick Garland is lying,” Cruz said, he has committed two crimes: lying under oath to Congress and obstructing justice.

Because Garland cannot investigate himself, Cruz argues, he “should be recused from the entire case” and a special counsel should be appointed “to determine whether or not the United States Attorney General committed multiple crimes. “.
That’s unlikely to happen given the Justice Department would appoint a special prosecutor and the Biden administration has denied any wrongdoing.

Two FBI whistleblowers have come forward alleging an FBI cover-up of alleged crimes committed by Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden. They will appear before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee next week.
An FBI whistleblower, Gary Shapley, and an anonymous colleague, have previously testified before the House Ways and Means Committee. They said their years-long investigation of Hunter Biden had been crippled by Biden-appointed superiors. The committee also published a 200-page transcript of his interview with Shapley, who said his superiors were seeking to protect Hunter Biden by blocking search warrants and preventing him from doing his job. After telling Congress what happened, he was removed from the case and said he received retaliatory treatment.
On Wednesday, the Control Committee announcement he was holding a hearing next week, titled “Hearing with IRS Whistleblowers on Biden Criminal Investigation.” At the hearing, the American people will hear from IRS whistleblowers “who possess critical information related to the committee’s investigation into the Biden family’s influence-peddling schemes.”

Committee chair Rep. James Comer, R-Kentucky, said, “Since taking the gavel in January, the Oversight and Accountability Committee has made rapid progress in our investigation into domestic trade relations and of the Biden family to determine whether these activities compromise the United States. national security and President Biden’s ability to lead impartially. From the thousands of financial documents we have obtained, we know that the Biden family created more than 20 front companies, engaged in intentionally complicated financial transactions with foreign adversaries, and made a concerted effort to hide the payments and avoid scrutiny.
Comer also said the whistleblower testimony supports concerns Republican senators and many Americans have raised: a “two-tier justice system that apparently allows the Biden family to operate above the law.”
Cruz also said he met with Comer to discuss the whistleblowing allegations, add that while the House is trying to hold the FBI accountable, “Senate Democrats don’t want to know the truth. They are not interested.
