1/3A thread.
I would like to clear up any confusion I may have caused with my dear fans and the media. I will never retire! I was put on this earth to be a singer and I will continue to do so as long as the good Lord allows me.

“I will never retire!”
“I would like to clear up any confusion I may have caused with my dear fans and the media,” Stewart, 78, wrote in a Instagram post. “I will never retire! I was put on this earth to be a singer and I will continue to do so as long as the good Lord allows me.
“I will be playing announced hits for UK, US, South America and Vegas and until 2024, but no retirement as such,” he continued, discussing his upcoming tour.
It comes days after Stewart expressed his intention to “leave all the rock ‘n’ roll stuff behind” after this tour.
“I’m not retiring,” Stewart said, according to NME. “I just did a swing album with Jools Holland, which is coming out next year, so I want to go in that direction. I just want to leave all the rock ‘n’ roll stuff behind – maybe for a while.
Stewart went on to say that he was “really looking forward to doing something else” and that the music he was working on with Jools Holland’s band “borders on rock ‘n’ roll anyway, it’s just not ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy?'”

In his Instagram clarification, however, Stewart said he “could never turn his back on the songs I’ve written and sung for the past six decades.”
“I could never turn my back on the songs I’ve written and sung over the past six decades,” he wrote. “They are like my children. I created them and I love them. I will always come back to them.
“I will always come back to them, just as I did after The Great American Songbook series, which I will proudly add, sold 26 million albums!” he added.
Stewart ended his statement by saying he’s looking forward to releasing his next project to fans after his 2023 tour wraps up.
“I can’t wait to see you on the road with all the hits, and I can’t wait to introduce you to my new swing album next year,” he concluded.

When asked if his busy schedule and Penny’s help keep their marriage strong, Stewart replied: “Actually, it does. We often joke that we can both be in this big house in Essex and not see us.
“We stay within the perimeters of the house but we only see each other in the evening,” he explained. “We wake up, have a cup of tea in bed together, then she goes her way and I go mine. It’s lovely, we’re not on top of each other all the time. We are very lucky in this position.
