New York Times: “The business of being Chris Christie has received only sporadic attention since leaving public office. But his latest endeavor – a presidential campaign to overthrow former President Donald Trump, a man who he once supported and advised – shed new light on his success.
“A careful review of corporate and government records and interviews with more than 30 people familiar with his lobbying and advisory work show that Mr. Christie has benefited from his relationship with the man he now wants to defeat, as well as the political profile he gained in eight years as governor of New Jersey.
“Mr. Christie has made millions from interests wanting to take advantage of his political connections, including pharmaceutical, medical and sports betting companies, such as DraftKings – whose hiring of Mr. Christie has not previously been reported Some had dealings with the state when Mr. Christie was governor and saw him as a reliable defender of their results, while others wanted to leverage his close association with Mr. Trump and the Trump administration.
