One voter told MSNBC, “We’re not big Trump fans. There are a lot of bluster good ideas, but a lot of bluster. I love Mr. Scott. We share the same faith. He has a very tough road ahead of him. To be black and republican.
Another Republican voter from Iowa, “I’ve spoken to Mike Pence a few times. I like Mike. He is a good moderate conservative. Religious family man. I’m not 100% Trumper this time. He has done great things. I like what he did when he was in power. I just didn’t like all the jokes in the background.
The Republicans MSNBC spoke to expressed some facts about the Republican Party. Tim Scott is going to struggle as a candidate because he’s black. Second, the Republican Party has moved so far to the right that Mike Pence could be considered a moderate.
Trump didn’t show up for Ernst’s Ride and Roast, so it makes sense the audience would be made up more of Iowans looking for someone other than Trump.
However, the reason these voters seemed to be discouraged is because of Trump’s personality. It’s not the legal issues, the criminal charges or the bribery.
Some Republicans are fed up with Trump’s personality and drama.
The longer he campaigns, the more votes Trump could cost himself.
The MAGA contingent within the Republican primary is so large that it’s unlikely anyone else can beat Trump in a primary, but Donald Trump definitely has a problem in Iowa as he battles. heading towards 2024.
