A former Chesapeake, Va. police officer was given a suspended sentence and given a good behavior sentence for a year after plead guilty to forging a signature upon court summons. Skysha Nettles delivered the summons to a man accused of shoplifting at a grocery store, but forgot to get him to sign. Her supervisor spotted the problem and told her she should have the man sign or have a magistrate issue a subpoena. She came back the next day with the man’s signature. But the supervisor found it suspicious. Police located the man, who confirmed he had not signed it. Nettles admitted to forging the signature.
