The Kremlin has accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin in a drone attack.
State news wire Ria Novosti reported on Wednesday that the Russian military and intelligence acted in a “timely” manner to shoot down two Ukrainian drones that attacked the Kremlin overnight.
The Kremlin said in a statement that the alleged strike was “a planned terrorist attack and attempted assassination of the President of Russia.”
Putin was not injured and no casualties or damage was suffered in the alleged attack, according to the Kremlin.
It was not immediately clear if the alleged attack took place. Pro-Kremlin social media channels posted videos of what appeared to be anti-aircraft fire over the Kremlin late at night.
