We had a president who took office in actively soliciting and accepting the efforts of the Russian Federation, then lied about it. These were “uncharted waters”.
We had a president who openly campaigned against racism and xenophobia, urging his spectators to beat up journalists. These were “uncharted waters”.

For the majority of people in this country, the entire Trump administration has been one long, unintended experiment in “uncharted waters,” an experiment that ultimately left our country crippled, effectively torn in two, with millions distrustful, even downright dismissive of our democracy. , and millions unable and unwilling to separate truth from lies. We now have one of our two political parties wholly devoted to performative cruelty and wallowing in election denial, fascism and violence.
So please don’t even talk to me about “uncharted waters”. This ship sailed a long, long time ago.
