Although he talks about a good humanitarian game, President Joe Biden keep going on people fleeing danger and persecution in their home country. One of the most infuriating examples of this is the recent requirement that people seeking asylum in the United States must first download the “CBP One” app to arrange a meeting at the border.
If you want a real-time window into the frustration and hopelessness of the situation, just Check out some of the heartbreaking reviews app in the Apple App Store.
It has been widely reported that the buggy app crashes regularly and – even if you have to take a short video selfie – for some reason the app struggled to handle darker skin tones.
Hope this is a bug and not a feature of the app.
It’s absurd that the United States requires people who have uprooted their families and may very well be fleeing past (and current) violence to download an app on a smartphone they own or don’t own. (And make sure you have at least 178.6 megabytes of free space on your phone while hiking in the desert!)
While an application requirement may seem small, it does appear to be nothing more than a new technological hurdle to avoid dealing with people who have the legal right to seek asylum.
In the meantime, if you are an “unaccompanied minor” who has arrived in the United States, chances are you are absorbed in a dark world of child labor exploitation.
