Instagram was inaccessible to thousands of users around the world for several hours on Wednesday evening, according to outage tracker Downdetector.
More than 44,000 users of the Meta-owned photo-sharing social network reported experiencing problems accessing the service in the United States as of around 5:30 p.m. PT, according to information collected by Downdetector. Users in Japan, Spain and Australia, among several other countries, have reported being unable to access the site.
An attempt to access the site on Wednesday night presented a message that read, “Sorry, this page is unavailable.”
Representatives for Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but a Tweeter at 9:00 p.m. PT on the Instagram Comms account said the outage had been resolved, attributing the situation to an undefined “technical issue.”
