The Forerunner 265 is said to last up to 13 days in smartwatch mode while the Forerunner 965 comes in at an impressive 23 days per charge. With the Forerunner 965 you get 32GB of built-in storage, compared to the 8GB the 265 has, and it has a 1.4-inch screen while the 265 is 1.3-inch.
For the most part, the Garmin Forerunner 265 looks like a great option, although some features are only available on the Forerunner 965, like Garmin Golf support, real-time endurance, heat acclimation, Strava Live segments and a few others. Most runners will find everything they need in the most affordable model, but if you want to be sure, upgrading to the Forerunner 965 will give you a lot more data to play with.
