Washington D.C.- Yesterday, MoveOn Political Action organized a celebrity “One Chip Challenge” virtual event to raise money to fund efforts to get the vote (GOTV) in the Georgia Senate runoff on Dec. 6. #ChipInForGA live broadcast eventseveral celebrities participated in this online viral challenge trying to eat a single Paqui tortilla chip made with one of the hottest peppers on the planet, the Carolina Reaper.

ICYMI, here are some memorable moments from the event featuring Tom Colicchio, Andy Daly, Chelsea Handler, Andy Richter, Sarah Paulson, Busy Phillips, Phillipa Soo and Bradley Whitfordwhich has so far raised over $70,000:
Comedian Chelsea Handler reignited her fans to watch her take on the challenge And conquered the “very obnoxious” chip at the event.
Actress Sarah Paulson swallowed a jug of vinegar on camera to refresh herself after consuming the chip.
Actor Busy Phillips compared eating the chip to the painful ‘ring of fire’ last leg of the birthing process.
After Broadway star Phillipa Soo commented on how accomplished she felt after eating the chip, Andy Richter replied, “Who would have thought something so stupid would lead to a Epiphany?”
And earlier today, actor J. Smith Cameron fell to the ground next to her “Succession” co-star Fisher Stevens after eating the chip after soliciting Warnock from Marietta.
While there was a general comedic element, participants all stressed the importance of building basic infrastructure and long-term voter engagement. Comedian and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” writer Blaire Erskine and Phillipa Soo grabbed viewers early on. Soo said that “democracy is like exercise. You can’t do it once and expect it to work. You have to keep doing it, keep participating.
“The common thread is that there is an infrastructure,” said Nse Ufot, founder of New South Super PAC, explaining “how we put our feet in the street, how we bring people to action. … We We’ve been preparing for this moment all year… That’s why we’re going to win!
All proceeds raised during the event will be donated to fund grassroots local GOTV organizations in various Georgia communities that are helping Democrats win the 51st Senate seat: Poder Latinx, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Black Voters Matter Fund, and New South Super PAC.
