welcome everyone Super Bowl haters! You are safe here.
Looking for a way to stream the Super Bowl online? Mosey on this article for quality advice on how to watch the “big game”.
OK, now that it’s just us, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. You feel better than the unwashed masses, and why don’t you? Sports are boring and low-key, and there are plenty of reasons to dislike the National Football League, the NFL disability benefit file to the team mascots who disrespecting native americans.
Who cares even if the Chiefs beat the Packers on Sunday? (The Packers aren’t in the Super Bowl. They’re actually the Eagles, but I’m all for faking recklessness.) If there’s anything this testosterone-fueled vacation gets right, it’s the snacks. So go ahead and grab a big bag of crisps, 57 layer cheese dip and a cold drink. Maybe even some of those little smokies! We’ve rounded up seven Super Bowl entertainment alternatives for your discerning palate.
The last of us
“Adaptation of video games” and “prestige TV” are not often pronounced in the same breath, but The last of us series redefines expectations for the genre. It has it all: an adorably gruff Pedro Pascal, an unruly teenager who loves to swear, a devastating third episode where Nick Offerman plays a queer survivalist. New episodes are released weekly on HBO Max.
iFixit teardowns
Show me the guts of the gadget! The iFixit team does DIY repairs, but you’re missing out if you only go to their YouTube channel when your smartphone screen is cracked. Their gadget teardown videos reveal everyday hardware hidden in plain sight. What’s really inside the Meta Quest Pro or the Samsung ZFlip or the steam bridge? I could stare at this thing for hours.
Free Solo
Did you get a Disney+ subscription so your kids could watch Moana Or Turn red? Take the time to dig through the service’s movie collection for gems like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Fantastic Mr. FoxAnd Free Solo. A documentary that is not for those with vertigo, Free Solo follow the climber Alex Honnold as he rides El Capitan of Yosemite without safety ropes.
M3GAN
If you have seen the TikTok memes and Saturday Night Live sketch but I haven’t looked yet M3GAN movie, do it. An experimental robot is tasked with protecting a vulnerable girl after the death of her parents. What could go wrong! The film is campy, quirky, and now available for rental. Even as someone who’s been known to fall asleep on the couch, I can say rolling credits on M3GAN was the easiest thing I’ve done all year.
The button
Valentine’s Day is so, so cringe. As serious. Get into the bad mood of it all with one of my favorite YouTube series, a speed dating show from The Cut. Singles sit at any table and chat until a red button lights up between them. If either person chooses to press the button, their partner is immediately replaced by someone else. Essentially it’s MTV’s Next for the YouTube generation. No one really finds true love on The buttonbut the awkwardness is oddly satisfying to watch.
Contraction
You still have an Apple TV Plus subscription after streaming the first season of Breakup? The latest show on Apple’s service worth watching is Contraction, a comedy-drama starring Jason Segel as a therapist who tries a more direct approach with clients as he treats grief. Created by Segel and two of the people behind Ted Lassothe show has a warm heart under all interpersonal matters.
Rupaul’s Drag Race
Often referred to as the “Super Bowl of dating” by gay fans who haven’t watched a football game in over a decade, RuPaul’s Drag Race is the closest thing to a sport that my family enjoys. Check out all the jaw-dropping costumes and fierce battles by visiting the MTV website and logging in with your TV provider credentials. (There’s a free one-day pass for cord cutters that’s down for a frenzy watch.) If only I could place FanDuel bets on Sasha Colby snatching this season’s crown.
